Wallace Buhr, of Dawson, died on Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013, at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 83.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM, at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with Rev. Erik Carlson officiating. Interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 5 - 7 PM.
Wallace Arhart Buhr was born January 8, 1930 in Swift County, MN the son of William and Edna (Zick) Buhr. He was baptized in Appleton, MN and confirmed at the Redeemer Church in Danvers where he first learned about God’s love and teachings. He attended school in Dist # 75. In February of 1953 he entered the U.S. Army where he served for 2 years. In returning home he lived with his sister Esther and family for the next three years. He farmed, had his own grain hauling business and had a large salvage yard south of town. On March 30, 1990, he was united in marriage to Ellen "Babe" Maus. at Brookings, S.D. In later years, he enjoyed collecting toy horses and tractors, playing cards, pool, and dancing. He was a member of the Dawson VFW and had been active in the Lac qui Parle racing association. Wally entered the Johnson Memorial Care Center in March of 2012 and remained there until his death.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley (Jerry) Smedstad of San Diego, CA; brother-in law, Donald Anondson of Redding, CA; a sister-in-law, Linda Buhr of East Bethel, MN; an aunt, Evie Zick of Morgan, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Ellen in 2011; brother Gerald Buhr; sisters Audrey Anondson and Esther Peterson.
