Wallace Larson, of rural Milan, died on Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 78.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5- 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Wallace Dewayne Larson was born on August 17, 1925 at home on the farm in Chippewa County, MN to Martin and Genora (Barduson)Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church, attended rural schools and graduated from Appleton High School in 1943. Following graduation, he began his farming career with his father and brother. On December 15, 1946 he was united in marriage to Burnette Tostenson at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children: Marsha, Bruce, Brad and Rick. He was a lifelong member of Big Bend Lutheran Church and served on the Council and various committees. He will be remembered for his love of family and his many interests including baseball, softball, bowling, golf and hunting. For the past 20 years he has enjoyed wintering in Texas. He was a strong advocate for the family farm which led to his involvement in the National Farmers Organization, Town Board and various other local organizations. He will be sadly missed by his family because of his support, involvement and interest in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Burnette; 3 children: Marsha Boraas and her husband Lee of Cold Spring, MN; Bruce Larson and his wife Vicki of Fargo, ND and Brad Larson and his wife Cindy of Fergus Falls, MN; 9 grandchildren: Kim (Graham) Nelson; Rob (Lisa) Boraas, Amy (Alex) Jaramillo; Karin Larson; Anne (Mike) Rydell; Sara Larson; Jenna, Andrew and Kaitlin Larson; 9 great grandchildren; Levi, Elan, Shae and Kobe Nelson; Mitchell Pantzke, Taylor and Cade Boraas and Aliah and Amari Jaramillo; a brother, Ray Larson and his wife Arlene of Milan, MN; a sister, Helen Carlson and her husband Carl of Benson, MN and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Rick Larson.
