Wallace "Wally" Steenson, of Montevideo, died on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 77. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. Wallace Gerald Steenson was born on December 23, 1931 in Lac qui Parle Co, MN to Clarence and Ella (Falla) Steenson. He grew up in Lac qui Parle Co and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1949.. He served in the US Navy Air Corps during the Korean Conflict, serving with Patrol Squadron Eight, an anti-submarine unit of the Atlantic Fleet Air Wings command based at the naval Air Station at Quonset Point, Rhode Island.. Following his discharge he was accepted by Northrup Aeronautical Institute in Inglewood, CA. Following the completion of his studies in 1956, he worked as an Aeronautical Engineer in CA prior to returning to MN . He worked at Prairie Five in Montevideo for about fifteen years before his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post # 380 in Montevideo and was currently living at Brookside Manor in Montevideo. He is survived by two sisters: Elaine (and John) Zink of Omaha, NE and Joan (and Richard) Hineline of Blair, NE; a brother, DeLos "Duke" (and Nancy) Steenson of Wayzata, MN; a half-sister, Clarice (and Jim) Preston of Washington, D.C. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Steenson and his mother, Ella Paulson.
