Wallace "Wally" Gunder Kittelson

Wallace Kittelson, of Montevideo, died on Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 70.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating.  Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Wallace “Wally” Gunder Kittelson was born on October 11, 1933 in Milan, MN to Alfred and Myrtle (Slotten) Kittelson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan and attended Milan Public Schools.  On March 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Wanda Bothun at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He worked as a police officer in Danube, MN and as a driver for metro Transit in Minneapolis before moving to Montevideo in 1965.  He drove for Western COOP for over 30 years before retiring in 1997.  He received an award for driving over 3 million miles with no accidents or tickets as a Western driver.  He has been working the past couple of years as a driver for Prairie 5.  Wally enjoyed his home and yard work and loved plants and flowers.  He also enjoyed traveling, ushering at church, going to Trailways, socializing with people and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; four children: Craig Kittelson and his wife Lori of Andover, MN, Scott Kittelson and his wife Tracy of Montevideo, MN, Mike Kittelson and his fiancé Kim Anderson of Montevideo, MN, and Mindy Kittelson and friend Ellen Syvertsen of St. Petersburg, FL; and seven grandchildren - Katy, Rachel, Trevor and Anthony Kittelson and Kortni, Skyler and Kiana Anderson.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a daughter, Tanya Rae Kittelson in 1973.
