Walter Gjerset, 81, of Benson, MN died October 31, 1994 at the Swift County - Benson Hospital in Benson, MN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5, 1994 at 11:00 A.M. at Watson Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Rendahl will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and with the family from 6-8:00 P.M. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before services.
Walter Magnus Gjerset was born October 11, 1913 in Minneapolis, MN the son of Magnus and Frances (Gomoll) Gjerset. He moved with his family as a young boy to a farm in Big Bend Township. He attended rural school, Milan High School, and at the Agricultural College in Morris. Walter was united in marriage with Judith Nordby December 22, 1939. They made their home and farmed in Big Bend Township, Chippewa County, MN until moving into Benson in 1991. He was active at Watson Lutheran Church. Judith died October 11, 1994.
He is survived by one daughter, Marlene Teigen and her husband Dale of Coon Rapids, MN; one son, Douglas and his wife Dianne of Hoffman, MN; five grandchildren: Andrea and Andrew Beede, Robert and Alma Teigen, Kathryn Teigen, Kristin Gjerset, and Karin Gjerset; and one great-granddaughter, Carolynne Beede.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Judith; one son, Thomas; and one brother, Oscar; and one sister, Ethel Kelzer.
