Walter Robert Schwendemann

Walter Schwendemann, of Montevideo, died on Monday, October 19, 1998 at the Fairview- University Hospital at the age of 70.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 22, 1998 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Walter Robert Schwendemann was born on January 14, 1928 in Rusk County, WI to Ernest and Anna (Metzing) Schwendemann.  He was baptized in Wisconsin and later confirmed at St. Marks Lutheran in Benson, MN.  He grew up in the Rusk County,WI and DeGraff, MN areas and attended rural schools.  On October 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Wanda Lovhaug at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN.  They lived their entire married lives in the Montevideo area.  He farmed on the home farm for several years, worked for Swifts, operated his own portable feed mill, drove truck for the Equity Elevator, and worked at Victor Fluid Power in Granite Falls before retiring in 1993.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; two sons: Robert Schwendemann and his wife Karla of Watson, MN and Paul Schwendemann and his wife Lori of Madison, MN; one daughter, Jayne Edwards and her husband Randy of Red Wing, MN; six grandchildren: Jaden, Kaleb, Brittany and Rebeka Schwendemann, Randy Paul and Trista Edwards; three sisters: Hilda Hector and her husband Charles of Osakis, MN, Lucille Olson and her husband Russell of Murdock, MN, and Clara Weibold and her husband Richard of Paynesville, MN; one brother, John Schwendemann and his wife Donna of Crystal, MN; one sister-in-law, Elaine Schwendemann of Benson, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ann Masters; and one brother, Herman.
