Wanda Flickinger, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 67. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Wanda Renee (Nelson) Flickinger was born on September 23, 1942 in Montevideo, MN to Abner and Leona (Prohl) Nelson. She was baptized on November 15, 1942 and confirmed on September 30, 1956 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She attended Montevideo Public Schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1960. On October 14, 1961 she was united in marriage to Walter Flickinger at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She began working as a secretary at Our Saviors Lutheran while still in high school and continued until several years ago when she retires as office manager. She was a lifetime resident of Montevideo and a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, card club, listening and dancing to 50's music, laughing, playing Pac Man and enjoying her grandchildren. She is survived by two children: Sheryl (and Paul) Bednar of Pittsburgh, PA and Scott (and Deb) Flickinger of Andover, MN; three grandchildren: Chelsea, Arielle and John; her mother, Leona Nelson of Clarkfield; a sister, LaVon Larson of Clarinda, IA; two nieces: Lynn and Lori; and long-time companion, Bob Anderson. She was preceded in death by her father, Abner Nelson and by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Larson. Memorials are preferred.
