Wayne Myhre

July 1, 1941 — April 10, 2012

Wayne Myhre, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Hennepin County Medical Center surrounded by his family at the age of 70. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. Mckee and Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Wayne Allan Myhre was born on July 1, 1941 in Mandt Township of Chippewa County, MN to Oscar and Alfa (Nokleby) Myhre. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1959. On June 8, 1963, he was united in marriage to Patricia Hegna at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in Mandt Township for many years before he retired from farming in 1986. Following his retirement from farming, Wayne worked at numerous jobs including ISD #129, DJ's Sporting Goods and Our Saviors Lutheran Church. After living on the farm for 29 years, they moved into Montevideo in 2002. He was a long-time member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and currently was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. He had also been a member of the Lion Club and sang in the Fiesta Chorus. Wayne volunteered at Luther Haven, helped serve Meals on Wheels, and was always willing to help when someone needed it. Wayne enjoyed tinkering in his garage on cars, lawnmowers and anything else that needed to be fixed. He enjoyed dancing, walks, going to sporting events, visiting, storytelling, and especially his grandchildren and their activities. He is survived by his wife, Pat; two daughters: Lisa (and Bob) Steinke of Baldwin City, KS and Stacey (and Eric) Boike of Montevideo; four grandchildren: Nick and Karina Steinke and Kaden and Carson Boike; a brother, Larry (and Carol) Myhre of Forest Lake, IL; as well as nieces and nephews, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Scott Myhre in 1987.
