Wayne Sundstedt, of Montevideo, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at his home at the age of 62. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. James Devorak as the celebrant. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Wayne Allen Sundstedt was born October 29, 1949, at Hallock, MN, the son of Wilhelm and Gladys (Erickson) Sundstedt. While in high school, he was a wrestler and a golfer, graduating from Greenbush High School in 1967. Wayne was united in marriage to Kathryn Dunrud on August 10, 1968, in Argyle, MN. Wayne served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged as an E5 Sargent. They made their home in Warren, St. Cloud and Thief River Falls before moving to Montevideo in 1983. Wayne worked as a purchasing agent for Friendship Homes for many years. He enjoyed golfing, deer hunting and spending time with his family and grandkids. He especially loved bowling. He was active in the bowling association and was a coach for the junior traveling league. Wayne was very proud of his 300 game that he bowled on February 10, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two daughters: Lisa (Daran) Solbreken of Brooten, MN and Sarah (Thomas) Lee of Belgrade, MN; four grandchildren: Tiana and Jacob Solbreken and Tyler and Madison Lee; a sister, Gloria (Harlow) Johnson of Thief River Falls, MN; father and mother-in-law, Ken (Marcy) Dunrud of Thief River Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Karen (Randy) Krantz of Karlstad, MN; brothers-in-law: Mike (Teri) Dunrud of Thief River Falls, MN, Steve Dunrud of Viking, MN and Craig (Roxanne) Dunrud of Viking, MN; and numerous nieces,nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his father, Wilhelm Sundstedt and his mother, Gladys Rogers.
