Wayne Herbert Wolf was born in Armstrong, Iowa, on Christmas Day, December 25, 1925, to Herbert and Ruth (Ammons) Wolf. He was welcomed by his two sisters, Ethel and Dorothy. Wayne was baptized, attended Sunday School, and was confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Armstrong. He also attended high school in Armstrong. Upon graduation, he was accepted for entrance at Buena Vista College in Spirit Lake, Iowa, graduating from there with a chemistry degree.
He worked for General Mills in the laboratory in Belmond, Iowa, where he met his wife, Grace (Landon) Wolf. They were married on March 10, 1950. To this union, four children were born. They lived in the communities of Bowling Green, Ohio, Rossford, Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio, Boone, Iowa, and Dawson, Minnesota. Wayne was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and loved photography, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Wayne died at his home on Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at the age of 74 years, 7 months, and 6 days, after battling Leukemia for 1 1/2 years.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Dawson; sons: Tim (Sandy) of Milwaukee, WI, and Brian (Deana) of Wooster, OH, and daughter-in-law, Ann Wolf of West Des Moines, IA; daughters: Susan (Jon) Roisen of Dawson and Cynthia (Kevin) Gilman of Poulsbo, WA; 11 grandchildren: Aaron and Martha Roisen of Dawson, Brett and Megan Wolf of West Des Moines, IA, Noelani and Michaela Wolf of Milwaukee, WI, Grant Austin of Wooster, OH, Steven, Jordan, Jacob, and Michael Gilman of Poulsbo, WA; sisters: Ethel (Lawrence) Andersen of Weaverville, CA, and Dorothy (Raymond) Schoentrup of Mesa, AZ; nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Wayne was a wonderful husband, father, and brother, devoted to his community, family, and God. He was a true example of positive thinking and unending humor, and never gave up on hope.
