Wilfred Mickels, formerly of Montevideo, died on Thursday November 9, 1995 at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 79.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday November 11, 1995 at 10:00 A.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Fr. Bill Sprigler officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday afternoon and evening and prior to services at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Wilfred Henry Mickels was born on July 8, 1918 in Belgrade, MN to Nicholas and Mary (Moe) Mickels. He was baptized and confirmed in Belgrade and attended rural schools. In 1941 he was united in marriage to Agnes Peters in Brooten,MN. He was later united in marriage to Eldora (Allen) Engelke on June 14, 1963 in Watertown, SD. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator on road construction before retiring in 1980. He has been a resident of the Granite Falls Manor for a number of years. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Granite Falls, MN.
He is survived by daughters - Marlys Negen of New Ulm, MN; Dorothy Henslin of Raymond, MN; and Lois Fisher of Prinsburg, MN; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and by a brother - Leander Mickels of Maynard, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Eldora in 1977, by a son Donald Mickels; by a grandson - Chad Henslin; and by sisters - Viola Engelke and Doris Mickels.
