William "Bill" Osborne

March 20, 1926 — June 23, 2015

William “Bill” Osborne of Montevideo died Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 89.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church from 1-2PM.

Bill Osborne was born March 20, 1926 in rural Le Mars, Iowa to George and Agnes (Pech) Osborne.  He attended and graduated from Le Mars High School.   Bill went to work on the family farm following high school.  On June 10, 1951 Bill was united in marriage to Betty L. Hinde at Seney Methodist Church.  They made their home on the family farm in Iowa and had two children together.  In 1957 Bill and Betty moved to Montevideo, MN to be closer to Betty’s parents.  Bill farmed until retirement and following retirement continued to work for others doing farm work.

Bill was a life long member of United Methodist Church in Montevideo.  He  served as an usher in the church as well as serving on many committees at church.  Bill liked to camp and have coffee with friends.   He valued spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  Bill’s family remembers that Bill enjoyed old cars, horses, and community parades.

Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty;  two children: David (Lea) Osborne of Faribault, MN and Marilyn (Wes) Nelson of Willmar, MN; two grandchildren: Rebecca (Benjamin) Bernard of Mankato and Patricia (Charlie) Pence of Owatonna, MN; four great-grandchildren: Brayden, Berkleigh and Bristol Bernard and Harbor Pence; and two sisters, Jean Buss of Paullina, IA and Lois Mars of Primghar, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Agnes Osborne; brothers-in law: Lloyd Buss and Mindred Mars; and other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church prayer garden and to Rice Hospice.
