William "Bill" Brian Backer

William “Bill” Backer, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, February 13, 1999 at the Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 53.

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, February 19, 1999 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating.

William Brian “Bill” Backer was born on August 18, 1945 in Willmar, MN to Henry and Alice (Sausele) Backer. He was baptized at the Christian reformed Church in Raymond, MN and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He served in the US Army.  Bill did construction work and later worked for his brother, Jim.  He was united in marriage to Judy (Iverson) Treague on June 27, 1998 in Smith Park by Rev. Harold Knutson.  He especially enjoyed fishing and watching sports.

He is survived by his wife Judy; two daughters: Bobbi Tomes of Montevideo and Brenda Hughes and her husband Jim of Bismark, ND; one son, Ryan Backer of Montevideo; one step-daughter, Carla Treague; grandchildren: Tyler and Haley Hughes; one step-grandson, Brett Treague;  one brother Jim Backer and his wife Loraye of Glenwood, MN; two aunts: Murial Luxem and Marvel Meier and her husband Dean of Rapid City, SD; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
