Dr. Bill Owens, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 95.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
William Alexander Owens was born on October 20, 1909 in Virginia, MN to William and Lucinda (Sadley) Owens. He graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, Mn in 1927. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he completed Medical School in 1935. He worked as a physician in Topeka, KS and Montevideo before being united in marriage to Hildegarde Lima on March 3, 1940 in Montevideo. He served as a physician in the US Army during WWII and lived in Minneapolis for a short time before returning to Montevideo to his medical practice. Following his retirement he lived in Montevideo and was a part-time resident of St. Petersburg, FL. He was a member of American Legion Post #59, Montevideo Kiwanis, the Montevideo School Board, the local, state and national medical associations, was Chippewa Co. Coroner and served on the Montevideo Planning Board. He enjoyed golf, tennis, fishing, fly-tying, hunting, reading and playing bridge.
He is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Kieske and her husband Fred of Visalia, CA and Caroline Kelly and her husband Mike of Bozeman, MT; two sons: Jonathan Owens and his wife Linda of Las Vegas, NV and Thomas Owens and his wife Cindy of Littleton, CO and eight grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Hildegarde in 1994, 3 brothers: Harry, Robert and Thomas Owens and by 2 sisters: Elizabeth Frost and Marion Milbrandt.
