Winston Anderson died Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 91.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson. Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7:00 PM and at the church for one hour before the service.
Winston Keith Anderson was born November 22, 1931 in Dawson, MN the son of Theodore and Julia (Graven) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Dawson. He was united in marriage with Bethel Bergstrom June 19, 1955 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Circle Pines, MN. They made their home in Dawson. Winnie was a truck driver his entire life. He drove truck for Lac qui Parle County, for himself and for Dawson Mills for over 30 years until he retired in 1986. He received the million miles safety award. Winnie served on the city council 2 different times. He was a member at Grace Lutheran Church and ushered at funerals in his later years. He enjoyed wood working, working in the garage, jigsaw puzzles and having coffee and visiting. He enjoyed his grand children and great grand children immensely and will be fondly remembered by them for his frequent short check in phone calls. Winnie had a knack for making special friends wherever he frequented, from hospital nurses to the staff at Hardees.
He is survived by his wife, Bethel; five children: Tim (Pat) of Marshall, Tom (Sue) of Montevideo, Todd (Linda) of Willmar, Terry (Connie) of Dawson, and Tami (Greg) Staab of Dawson; fifteen grandchildren; forty seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon (Delores) Anderson of Hastings, MN, sister in law, Marion Anderson, Hopkins, MN, numerous Bergstrom in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Proceeding him in death were his parents; three great-grandchildren: Otto Andrew Vogel, Harper Rue Anderson and McKinnen LeeAnn Anderson; two sisters; Frances (Cecil) Anderson and Margret (Clarence) Kletscher; and three brothers: Stanford, John (Arlene) and Loren (Marilyn) and numerous Bergstrom in laws.
Memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Carris Rice Hospice
