Winton Ovre, of Granite Falls, died on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the age of 67.
Memorial services were conducted on Saturday, July 22, 2000 at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Appleton with Rev. Janice FitzGibbon officiating.
Winton Ellsworth Ovre was born on March 7, 1933 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Ben and Ida (Allickson) Ovre. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson and grew up in Chippewa Co. He graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951 and worked around Montevideo before entering the Air Force in March of 1953.On August 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Elvera Liebe at First Baptist Church in Appleton, MN. Following his discharge from the Air Force in March of 1957, he worked as a carpenter, cabinetmaker and woodworker until his semi-retirement, when he went into metal machining. He enjoyed life by reading, fishing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family was the most important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife Elverea; four children - Warren Ovre and his wife Ava of Montevideo; Eloise "Liz" Loose and her husband Daniel of Lamberton, MN; Wesley Ovre and his wife Rosemin of Morton, MN and Curtis Ovre and his wife Mari of Redwood Falls, MN; eleven grandchildren - Amanda and Sarah Ovre, Kristi, Jereme and Rochelle Loose; Prince, Hannah, Ben and Jasmin Ovre and Steven and Sarah Johnson; two sisters - Doris Angrimson and Betty Nagel of Montevideo; a brother - Gifford Ovre and his wife Signe of St. Paul, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant brothers and sisters and by two brothers-in-law - Dick Angrimson and Vernon Nagel.
