Zola Lighter, of Maynard, died on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at the Maynard Presbyterian Church with Rev. Beverly Crute officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and prior to services at the church. Zola Jane (Schaller) Lighter was born on June 30, 1920 in Leenthrop Township, Chippewa County, MN to Charles and Laura (Sanderson) Schaller. She was baptized and confirmed at the Maynard Presbyterian Church and graduated from Maynard High School. On December 1, 1940 she was united in marriage to Raymond Lighter at the Maynard Presbyterian Church. They farmed near Maynard for many years and Zola worked at MTI in Montevideo for quite a few years before she retired. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past three months. She was a life-long member of Maynard Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Maynard Lions Club, Flying Geese Quilters, Prairie Five Board, and TOPS. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, canning, cooking, hardanger, and many crafts that she would show at craft shows all over the area. Zola is survived by three children: Jean (and Rick) Kraus of Lakeville, MN, Dale (and Bev) Lighter of Minnetonka, MN and Nancy (and Tom) Johnson of Maynard, MN; four grandchildren: Alyson (and Mark) Steil, Brandon (and Nia) Lighter, Jennifer (and Jeremy) Wold and Dallas Johnson; four great grandchildren: Morgan; Matthew; Elizabeth and Gracen; two brothers: Jesse and Odell Schaller; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond in 1987; one sister, Mabel Kingdon; and by two brothers: Jack and Roy Schaller
