Laura Gruber, of Montevideo, died on Friday, August 16, 2002 at the Princeton Elim Home in Princeton, MN at the age of 85. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Leo Deitemeyer officiating. Burial will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5:30 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Laura Minnie (Heise) Gruber was born on May 11, 1917 to Albert and Augusta (Nack) Heise. She was baptized on Nov. 11, 1917 and confirmed on July 17, 1932 in Canby, MN. On October 29, 1941 she was united in marriage to Herman Gruber in Canby, MN. They made their home in Montevideo while he served in the military and after his retirement. She had most recently been living in Princeton, MN to be closer to her family. She was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and active in her circle. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing crocheting, gardening, flowers and plants.
She is survived by sons Paul Gruber and his wife Bonnie of Cambridge, MN and Keith Gruber and his wife Shirlee of Loretto, MN; a daughter, Cheryl Gruber of Florence, AZ; 3 grandchildren: Patrick Gruber, Derek Gruber and Andrea Alferness; a brother, Wilmer Heise and his wife Bea of Porter, MN; 4 sisters: Evelyn Anderson, Lorraine Schwartz and Arlene Thompson of St. Paul, MN and Mabel Nielsen of Mississippi; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman in 1975, a brother, Ed Heise and by sisters, Eva Thompson and Leona Busch.
